* British Columbia - Grande West to attend CUTA Vancouver Transit Show

New Flyer & Nova Buses * Canada: To be made in China

* British Columbia - Future B.C. Transit buses to be made in China

--- Premier Christy Clark and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced a massive influx of $616 million into B.C.’s public transit infrastructure on Thursday, but what they failed to mention is where new buses will be manufactured. The answer? China... Unifor, the union representing Canadian auto workers, says they are disappointed to learn Canadian bus manufacturers New Flyer and Nova Bus were overlooked for a $35-million contract to construct 112 new buses, which has instead been given to Grande West Transportation... The Canadian-run Grande West manufactures Vicinity buses in China, including those currently used throughout the B.C. Transit region outside Metro Vancouver, and sells to many public transit markets across Canada... According to a May 10, 2016 release from the company, B.C. Transit awarded them a five-year contract worth over $35 million with an initial order of 41 buses for $13 million. An optional 71 buses are further included in the contract with the ability for units to be increased during the five-year term...

-- New Flyer Industries had a big year in 2015 that culminated in the December purchase of crosstown highway bus company Motor Coach Industries... The Winnipeg-based company — now the undisputed No. 1 bus company in North America — reported year-end revenue of US$1.54 billion, up 6.1 per cent from the year before... While the top line grew modestly, the bottom line looked even better... Total adjusted EBITDA for the year was up 41.1 per cent to US$151.4 million, and net earnings more than doubled to US$53.9 million...

Gurgaon,Haryana,India -Business Standard -24 Nov 2014: -- VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), a 50:50 joint venture between Sweden’s Volvo Group and Eicher Motors has launched Eicher Pro series of light duty for school and staff category... According to VECV, new buses will meet the demands of the emerging premium market segment by providing enhanced passenger safety, fuel efficiency and comfort with superior aesthetics. Eicher Skyline Pro buses are available in school, staff and tourist variants with seating capacity ranging from 36 to 60 per the segment requirement... The company is currently in discussion with various state governments and city authorities to provide these buses for public transportation. Under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, (JNNURM) the Government has sanctioned purchase of buses for various mission. The company is set to add one big order of 560 buses from Bihar and another order of 65 buses from Indore. It has supplied more than 3000 buses to the various state transport undertakings. In Maharashtra, there are 38 buses while it has supplied highest in Gujarat of 1101 units...

* Canada - Scottish bus maker to establish Ontario plant as part of Metrolinx deal

Toronto,Ontario,CAN -Canadian Manufacturing (CAN) -November 24, 2014: -- Metrolinx has signed a deal with Alexander Dennis Ltd. (ADL) to buy 253 double-decker buses that will see the Scotland-based bus maker establish a local chassis assembly facility near Toronto... According to Metrolinx, Ontario’s Crown transportation agency for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA), it has reached an agreement with the company that will see the fully accessible, low floor, double-decker buses delivered to its GO Transit arm over five years beginning in 2016... Construction of the chassis facility is expected to begin in mid-2015 and the first order of buses is expected by 2016... 


* Russia - GAZ Group delivers 30 articulated LIAZ Euro-5 buses to Nizhny Novgorod

Nizhny Novgorod, Russia -Busworld (Belgium) -23 Nov 2014: -- The GAZ Group Bus Division recently delivered to the Nizhny Novgorod administration 30 low-floor articulated buses of the type LIAZ-621322, fitted with a Euro 5 driveline. All vehicles are adapted to passengers with limited mobility. Total cost of the buses is more than 300 million rubles... The new buses are equipped with a MAN diesel Euro 5 engine producing 290 hp, a six-speed ZF automatic gearbox and ZF axles, and a kneeling system in the air suspension, a mechanical ramp, communication buttons with the driver, a fire extinguishing system, air conditioning and ten CCTV cameras... The bus is designed to transport 146 people. There are 34 seats and an extra seat for people with limited mobility... The bus LiAZ-621322 is the first domestic low-floor articulated bus...

Adelaide,SA,Australia -ABC News -18 Aug 2014: -- Just 13 jobs will be saved in Adelaide following the sale of troubled bus company Custom Coaches to a consortium... More than 100 Sydney jobs and 62 in Adelaide were lost after the company went into administration in July... Of the 300 people employed before July, about 120 will now stay with the new company, including 110 in Sydney... Adelaide's Royal Park site is gradually being closed with manufacturing operations to be based solely in Sydney... 


* Canada / Quebec - Bus maker Foton (China) orders more than 200 TM4 SUMO HD systems
Boucherville,QC -Inside EVS, by Mark Kane -14 August 2014: -- Canadian company TM4 has had a busy summer, as its Chinese joint-venture Prestolite E-Propulsion Systems (PEPS) received an order for more than 200 SUMO HD electric powertrains... This multi-million dollar order comes from Foton, one of China’s largest bus manufacturers, which would like to use the SUMO HD in both the 12 meter and 18 meter bus configurations... PEPS was established about two years ago with Prestolite Electric Beijing Limited. Previously, in July got the company got its first volume order for more than 100 powertrains...
Those were for SUMO HD and smaller SUMO MD units for BLK buses platforms of 6 and 8 meters... All together PEPS will deliver more than 300 powertrains, but the company has capacity to produce over 10-times more annually in Beijing...

At the GB Auto facility, UAE Minister of State, and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC), Dr. Bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, viewed the final model of buses, which the UAE Project in Egypt will supply 600 of them to the Transport General Authority... 300 buses will be manufactured by UAE-based bus manufacturers Hafilat Industries while the remaining 300 will be built by Egyptian auto importer and manufacturer Ghabbour Auto... The fleet will meet 30 per cent of the public transport programme requirements of Greater Cairo and ease traffic movement...

* Quebec - Nova Bus to deliver 55 Nova LFS buses to the Toronto Transit Commission 


St. Eustache,QC,CAN -Canada NewsWire /Digital Journal -June 11, 2014: -- Nova Bus has secured an order valued at $32.6 million for 55 buses to the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), the largest transit authority in Canada. Delivery of the first of the 40-foot diesel buses, including a pilot bus, will begin in 2015... The vehicles will be entirely assembled in Canada at the company's main plant in St-Eustache, Quebec and will include a high level of Canadian content. Nova Bus and the Volvo Group count on more than 65 component manufacturers and suppliers in Ontario, with millions of dollars in spending each year in the Greater Toronto Area... Nova Bus is part of the Volvo Group...
