BUS SHOW * Australia: Brings out industry best
* NSW - Luxury coach, or private jet?
--- Bus Show attendees travelled from all over the country, and from New Zealand, to get the biggest industry updates of 2016... The 2016 Australian Bus and Coach Show had a special twist to it this year, as it coincided with the Bus Association of New South Wales’ (BusNSW) 75th anniversary... The Dome at Sydney Olympic Park became a transport industry hub as it was filled with dozens of buses from manufacturers from across the globe... A few newcomers to the Australian market, such as the MAN-Gemilang A95 and the already popular-in-Japan Hino Poncho, made good impressions on industry professionals and interested visitors alike... Also in the realm of the new-and-shiny was (almost) the entire Volvo display stand, spruiking the latest Swedish inventions...

DELIVERED 16% more BUSES * Australia: Month basis
* NSW - Eighty-six buses were delivered in March, compared to 74 in February
-- Scania led the pack with 25 buses delivered, followed closely by Volvo with 24 deliveries. Volgren built the bodies of 25 buses delivered last month, while Custom Bus was involved in 20 deliveries. The majority of other bus body builders were involved in the delivery of less than five units each... Only 74 buses were delivered in February, compared to 92 the month before... Volvo led the way with 30 buses delivered, followed at a distance by Scania with 20 deliveries. Notable deliveries include 10 route service buses to the Public Transport Authority of Western Australia... Volgren built the bodies of 29 buses delivered last month, while Irizar was involved in seven deliveries. Bustech also had a strong showing in February and was involved in five deliveries...

Burleigh,QLD,Australia -Manufacturers' Monthly, by Matt McDonald -4 December, 2014: -- Queensland bus manufacturer, Bustech has been chosen as the lead design and manufacturing partner for a $170 million electric bus project... Announcing the project today, Bustech CEO, Michael McGee, said the project would position Bustech as an innovative regional leader in the use of renewable energy for buses... Bustech, part of Transit Australia Group, has partnered with the Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) (a Malaysian government body), Swinburne University of Technology and AutoCRC and a private Malaysian company to develop and test the E-Bus project in Malaysia... Swinburne University is providing the electric bus technology to the project and will work closely with Bustech throughout the trials of the prototype vehicle... On the Gold Coast to inspect the Bustech facility, Malaysian Automotive Institute CEO, M Madani Sahari, said if successful, the electric bus could be exported to other countries... * South Australia - Most Custom Coaches jobs to go in Adelaide despite bus firm's sale to consortium

Adelaide,SA,Australia -ABC News -18 Aug 2014: -- Just 13 jobs will be saved in Adelaide following the sale of troubled bus company Custom Coaches to a consortium... More than 100 Sydney jobs and 62 in Adelaide were lost after the company went into administration in July... Of the 300 people employed before July, about 120 will now stay with the new company, including 110 in Sydney... Adelaide's Royal Park site is gradually being closed with manufacturing operations to be based solely in Sydney...
* Canada / Quebec - Bus maker Foton (China) orders more than 200 TM4 SUMO HD systems
Boucherville,QC -Inside EVS, by Mark Kane -14 August 2014: -- Canadian company TM4 has had a busy summer, as its Chinese joint-venture Prestolite E-Propulsion Systems (PEPS) received an order for more than 200 SUMO HD electric powertrains... This multi-million dollar order comes from Foton, one of China’s largest bus manufacturers, which would like to use the SUMO HD in both the 12 meter and 18 meter bus configurations... PEPS was established about two years ago with Prestolite Electric Beijing Limited. Previously, in July got the company got its first volume order for more than 100 powertrains...
Those were for SUMO HD and smaller SUMO MD units for BLK buses platforms of 6 and 8 meters... All together PEPS will deliver more than 300 powertrains, but the company has capacity to produce over 10-times more annually in Beijing...

* Egypt - UAE project to offer 600 buses

Cairo,Egypt -Gulf Today -August 15, 2014: -- The GB Auto, it's a leading manufacturer of bus and commercial vehicles... At the GB Auto facility, UAE Minister of State, and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC), Dr. Bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, viewed the final model of buses, which the UAE Project in Egypt will supply 600 of them to the Transport General Authority... 300 buses will be manufactured by UAE-based bus manufacturers Hafilat Industries while the remaining 300 will be built by Egyptian auto importer and manufacturer Ghabbour Auto...
