* Karnataka/India - State Road Transport Corporation introduces intercity luxury services


-DNA -5 August 2014: -- Perhaps, disappointed with the number of road accidents involved by Volvo buses, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is contemplating to have another alternative to provide luxury bus services for the comfort of passengers. On Monday, the KSRTC has introduced Scania Metrolink HD inter-city luxury line from Bangalore to Chennai and Bangalore to Tirupathi on a trial basis to provide convenient, comfortable and affordable transportation... According to reliable sources, Scania vehicles are priced at Rs 5 lakh cheaper than Volvo buses...

Among the quotes in the story from locals is this one from me: “Bentleigh has less frequent buses than it did 25 years ago” ...

Manila,Philipinnes -Autoindustrya, by Eric Tipan -August 04, 2014: -- About 2,000 more buses are set to join the daily commute Filipinos make in Metro Manila. These are not new city buses but rather provincial buses that have been allowed back into city streets by a new memorandum from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB)... MMDA Chair Francis Tolentino was unaware of this development and has since warned the public about the repercussions it will have on the current traffic situation...
