* England - 'Ban older buses to cut emissions'

Leicester,East Midlands,EN,UK -Leicester Mercury, by Dan Martin -July 25, 2014: -- Campaigners want old buses banned from the city centre to try to improve air quality... Healthy Air Leicester and Leicestershire said the city should follow in the footsteps of London, Norwich and Oxford and declare a low-emission zone (LEZ)... The council said it was updating its air quality action plan and an LEZ has been discussed, though not proposed... The campaign group called for a zone covering the central part of the city which only buses that meet the Euro IV standard for emissions would be able to enter... It said the measure would lead to a significant improvement in air quality, by reducing nitrous oxide and particulate emissions...
