Strike and Protesters * India - Pelt Stones At Buses, 3 Students Injured
The separatist-sponsored strike disrupted public transport off the roads
Srinagar,Cachemire,India -Outlookindia -Oct 07, 2010: -- At least three students were today injured as protesters pelted stones at school buses at two places in Kashmir, where the separatist-sponsored strike disrupted life with shops and business establishments in the main markets closed and public transport off the roads... A group of youths pelted stones at a State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) bus, carrying students of a private school, at Zindshah Masjid in Rainawari locality of downtown Srinagar this afternoon... He said three students were injured and the vehicle was damaged in the incident... Another group of youths damaged a school bus at Nowshera locality of Soura on the outskirts of the city. However, none was hurt in the incident, he said... Educational institutions reopened in Srinagar and other major towns of the Valley on September 27 but attendance of the students has been fluctuating with most of them preferring to stay at home during the strike days in response to the protest calendar of hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference headed by Syed Ali Shah Geelani... As Hurriyat asked people to observe a complete strike today, the main markets wore a deserted look with most of the shops closed and public transport remaining off the roads.
