Stillwater,OK,USA -The Tulsa World, by Shannon Muchmore -March 7, 2009: -- Oklahoma State University will replace more than 20 of its buses with vehicles that run on compressed natural gas, using money expected through the federal stimulus package... The $4.2 million in stimulus funds would be allocated to OSU through the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and was approved Friday by the Oklahoma A&M Board of Regents...


* CTA set to collect $241 mil. in stimulus money

Chicago,ILL,USA -The Chicago Sun Times, by FRAN SPIELMAN -March 7, 2009: -- The CTA is in line for $241 million from the federal stimulus package and will purchase hybrid articulated buses, rebuild aging buses and rail cars and replace Blue Line subway tracks, a top mayoral aide said Friday... Chief of Staff Paul Volpe said the city will soon release its education priorities under the stimulus package and plans to submit a list of transportation projects to the state by March 25... Also on Friday, Volpe disclosed that the year-end budget shortfall "could be upwards of $200 million."...

Milwaukee,WI,USA -The Journal Sentinel, by Larry Sandler -March 8, 2009: -- A $25 million cash infusion from the federal stimulus package will delay - but not avert - a financial crisis at the Milwaukee County Transit System, county officials and outside experts agree... Wisconsin's biggest bus system is in line to receive nearly one-third of the $81.6 million that the stimulus legislation will send to the state for transit. And County Executive Scott Walker, who has opposed other stimulus funding, says he will accept the bus money... Milwaukee County's share of the dollars will go toward buying new buses and other equipment for the transit system...


* Danville Mass Transit plans to use stimulus funds on buses

Danville,IL,USA -The Urbana/Champaign News-Gazette, by Tracy Moss, by Rick Danzl -March 9, 2009: -- ... Dick Brazda, mass-transit director said, that's the preliminary dollar figure he's been given, and now he must apply for the money... Danville Mass Transit is planning to buy two new buses with its $891,000 of stimulus money that will replace 16-year-old buses that each has 500,000-plus miles on them... Brazda will apply for two new 35-foot buses that are 5 feet longer than most of the buses in the mass-transit fleet, which will provide more capacity on some of the more crowded routes... Brazda said Danville's mass-transit ridership continues to increase steadily, and it's not uncommon for some routes at certain times to not have enough seats...
