FIGURES * USA - Ridership Set Record On PRTC Buses Last Year
Washington,DC,USA -The Washington Post -February 1, 2009: -- The Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission set a ridership record last year, PRTC officials said Tuesday... PRTC's buses had more than 3.1 million passengers, up 14 percent from 2007... About 2 million of those passengers rode PRTC's OmniRide and Metro Direct commuter buses, and the rest were on the OmniLink and Cross County Connector local buses... The buses serve residents in Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park. PRTC officials said high gas prices largely caused the spike in ridership by forcing commuters to find alternative ways to get to work...
