Bus Passengers * USA - Exposed to Meningitis
Boise,Idaho,USA -Fox 12 KRTV -Jan 14, 2009: -- There are more than 1,200 Greyhound buses operating in the United States and those buses make 2,500 stops a day. In most cases a drivers biggest obstacle is the weather, but on Sunday it was something far more serious... The trip started in Denver and then progressed through Salt Lake City, Burley, Twin Falls, Boise, Nampa and Portland. For the most part the trip went as planned. But during its stop in Salt Lake, a passenger from Nevada got off, went to the hospital and died of meningitis... The Idaho Department Health and Welfare is now reaching out to the other 24 passengers on the bus who may have been exposed to the illness. Fortunately it's not easy to catch without direct contact... But if it does happen, Ezell went on to say that meningitis is very serious and it can progress extremely rapidly...
