Singapore -MIS Magazine (Australia), by Jack Loo -March 09, 2008: -- After a comprehensive overhaul of manual processes and providing instant visibility of its inventory, SBS Transit found itself an award winner. With 2,800 buses, SBS Transit is a major bus operator with 75 per cent market share in Singapore. The company is part of the ComfortDelGro group, one of the largest passenger land transport companies in the world with more than 40,000 vehicles. The group also runs operations in the UK, Australia, Vietnam, Malaysia and China. SBS Transit's Poh Ee Huat, general manager of engineering and supplies and Angie Tan, director of information technology (IT), together faced the considerable task of automating operations at the bus engineering department, to lower operating costs and improve productivity. The project paid off, and made the company a winner in the Best Bottom-line IT category at the MIS Asia IT Excellence Awards 2007...
