DANGEROUS MOTORISTS * USa - Mother pleads with motorists to follow law, stop for buses

Athens,OH,USA -The Athens Messenger, by MATT GALLAGHER -8 March 2008: -- Lisa France says she sees it nearly every day - a school bus will be stopped, lights flashing, dropping off a kid, and an impatient driver will swerve around, saving his or her day a few minutes at most, but putting the life of a child at risk... France has one child at Morrison Elementary School, and another enrolled in Athens Head Start. She worries for her kids, and she fears for the worst... According to state law, vehicles must stop at least 10 feet from the front or rear of a school bus that is stopped with lights flashing. However, enforcement of the law can be tricky, stated Neal Dicken, an officer with the Athens Police Department... (Messenger photo, by John Halley - A student exits a school bus on East State Street in Athens earlier this week. The motorist here obeyed the law and stopped for the bus, but frequently that’s not the case)
