Bus Fare * Viet Nam - Hikes, cause passenger misery

According to the Ha Noi Bus Station Management Company, 10 lines operating the Hanoi to Thai Binh and Thanh Hoa routes agreed to raise fares by between VND5,000-9,000 (US$0.4-0.6) for a one-way ticket, attributing the rise to high fuel prices... However, the increase has met with a mixed reaction from bus passengers. Le Thi Bich Tam, 24, from Thanh Hoa City, a regular passenger on the Hanoi-Thanh Hoa bus route, said that the new fare would cost her dearly... "My family is in Thanh Hoa while I work in Hanoi," said Bich. "Therefore, I frequently use the service on the week-ends to visit the family. Due to the new high fares, I definitely would think twice every time I want to visit home."
