Norwich,England,UK -The Norfolk Eastern Daily Press, by Rupert Neate -31 December 2007: -- A Norfolk MP has called for a bus passengers' watchdog to have the power to recommend removing a bus company's franchise, fine operators and suggest new routes... The government is set to introduce a passenger watchdog - similar to Passenger Focus, the watchdog for rail users - to protect and promote the interests of bus users... The exact role and scope of the watchdog is not yet clear and a consultation process is currently ongoing... But Norwich North MP Ian Gibson said: “Bus companies only think about the finances of bus routes, but local people know that there is more to buses than money. Elderly people should not have to walk a mile to get a bus"...
