Bus passengers numbers in Greater Manchester could be boosted by 12 per cent, says a new report
Blackburn,England,UK -This Is Lancashire -19 Dec 2007: -- ... The Confederation of Passenger Transport claims the answer lies in getting better co-ordination between local authorities and bus companies... Its report says it could result in an extra 29 million bus passenger journeys, reducing car journeys by 3.8 million a year... "Moving Forward - New Opportunities, New Passengers" says that more people will be encouraged to use the bus by increasing the frequency of services, decreasing the length of time they take, improving punctuality and reliability and improving passenger waiting areas... "Buses play a vital role in Greater Manchester, providing mobility for people that live, work and study in the area," said Simon Posner, Confederation of Passenger Transport chief executive. "We need to ensure that bus services are meeting the needs of all these groups of people"...
