NEW BUSES * Pakistan - Commuters await re-introduction of CNG buses

Commuters of the twin cities are anxiously awaiting the re-introduction of CNG passenger buses that will solve their transportation problems.

Islamabad,Pakistan -The Daily Times (Lahore,Pakistan) -12 Nov 2007: -- A surge in population of the twin cities, which has increased the movement of commuters between the twin cities, has compounded the problem. Many schemes, introduced in the past, were abandoned due to resistance by van owners in Rawalpindi... It is generally observed that as jobs and services have become more dispersed, the need to travel has become greater and society has become highly reliant on the private transport to meet this need, he added... With this reliance on the private transport, comes its associated problems, he said, adding that private transport companies could play an important role in developing better transport and reducing the impact of transport by taking steps towards more sustainable transport...
