CLEAN AIR PURPOSES * UK - Thousands not yet compliant with London LEZ

London,UK -Road Transport -23 November 2007: -- Transport for London (TfL) believes operators will comply with the London Low Emission Zone which comes into force in February, despite a recent survey that found 80,000 vehicles are still non-compliant... Manufacturers have raised concerns that builders merchants and glaziers which are not hauliers but still run CVs will slip through the net, but TfL says it is "very pleased" with the level of awareness of the scheme, which is designed to improve the Capital's air quality... TfL's own survey of vehicles entering the zone between 4 August and 14 September found 79,400 registered owners of non-compliant vehicles, which includes all CVs over 3.5 tonnes, as well as PCVs...
