Mississauga,Ontario,Canada -The Mississauga News, by Radhika Panjwani -Feb 22, 2007: -- A powerful device installed on some Mississauga Transit buses will help commuters beat the traffic blues and arrive at their destinations on time... The key is an infrared system on the buses that will enable red traffic signals to be turned into green ones and allow the vehicles to keep on schedule... The goal of the $700,000 SmartBus program, a pilot project on 30 Mississauga Transit buses running on Hurontario St. is to ease gridlock, improve transit services and help transit authorities study patterns of commuter behaviour... Funding for the project was provided by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities' Green Fund...
