* Italy - Rome’s buses get thumbs down.
Rome,Italy -Wanted in Rome -20 Feb 2007: -- Rome’s buses and trams were dirtier, in a more dilapidated state and less regular compared to last summer, according to a survey conducted by the local public service agency, for the period 18 September to 7 December 2006... 29.7 per cent were found to be strewn with litter against 15.3 last summer, while 52.6 per cent had graffiti on the walls and seats compared to 30.4 per cent in the previous survey... Passengers had to wait for long periods for a bus, with some 23 per cent of buses running behind schedule, on a par with the results of the previous survey... There was also a 6 per cent increase in the number of obstacles passengers had to face at the bus stop when boarding, such as cars and motorbikes blocking the way... Although in 75 per cent of the cases there were available seats for passengers this was less than when the survey was last conducted, when seats were available 80 per cent of the time...
