Biofuel * Australia - Could power all our buses
Victoria,Australia -The Victoria Times Colonist, by Freya Keddie -Feb 03, 2007: -- I had supported the concept of resource recovery from sewage long before I was convinced that sewage treatment was even necessary. It makes sense to develop a secure, local source of renewable biofuels for our public transit system... It is estimated that Capital Regional District sewage could supply enough biodiesel for all of our buses, with no change to vehicles or refuelling infrastructure... Compare this to the heavily subsidized "hydrogen highway," requiring new buses at $2 million a pop plus millions more public dollars to subsidize the infrastructure, with much of that money going to private corporations...
