* USA - Rowan to study pollution in buses
Glassboro,NJ,USA -Press of Atlantic City (Atlantic City,NJ), by DIANE D'AMICO -Jan 8, 2007: -- Rowan University engineering professors will spend the next three months monitoring three school buses on a one-mile track as they simulate 39 actual school bus runs in rural, suburban and urban school districts... Professors Anthony Marchese and Robert Hesketh previously did a project where they measured emissions expelled from exhaust pipes into the environment. They, along with professor Krishan Bhatia and several Rowan graduate students, will begin the new study next week... “The big controversy has been whether the particulate matter is worse inside the bus than it is on the road, and if it's coming from the tailpipe or the crankcase,” Marchese said. By testing the buses at the Aberdeeen Testing Center in Maryland they will be able to control and measure the process more effectively...

* USA - Clayton County buses go green
Clayton County ,GA,USA -The News-Daily.com (Jonesboro,GA), by Curt Yeomans -Jan 07, 2007: -- Transportation officials with Clayton County Public Schools are excited about the improvements being made to the school system's fleet of 550 buses... Clayton is one of 14 school systems in the state partnering with the Environmental Protection Division and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources on a Clean Air Initiative. The program will make the buses and 233 other district-owned vehicles more environmentally friendly...
