Norwich,England,UK -The Norwich Evening News, by DAN GRIMMER -6 Nov 2006: -- An attempt to get better bus services by forcing bus firms to sign up to a special contract looks to have been dashed... Last year Norwich City Council voted to try to get a Quality Bus Contract signed with firms such as First which would have given local authorities the power to set standards private bus firms are expected to meet... Instead the draft bus strategy makes a raft of other recommendations to improve the bus services in the city. It aims to increase the availability of buses, increase the number of people using buses by 10 per cent within the next five years, increase the percentage of buses starting their routes on time to 90 per cent by 2010/11 and make buses more affordable...
