Meanwhile, what hope of persuading drivers to leave their cars at home and travel by public transport?...

Craven,England,UK -Craven Herald, by Jim Greenhalf -27 Oct 2006: -- Attacks on Bradford buses and trains are hardly likely to persuade drivers to swap the safety of their cars for a ride on the wild side on public transport... Police officers riding shotgun on some bus routes and transport police doing the same on trains will be a test. The long-suffering public wants an assurance that the authorities mean what they say about cracking down on trouble-makers - whatever their ethnic background - not by talk but action... New York,NY,USA -The Gotham Gazette -Oct 26th, 2006: -- BloggerEast Village Idiot points out that the M14A bus (known to civilians as the 14th Street crosstown bus) was voted best bus in New York in the Village Voice’s Best of New York issue six days before it was voted the slowest bus in New York by NYPIRG’s Straphangers Campaign...


* Australia - Congestion and access inquiries
Canberra,Australia -Australasian Bus & Coach -30 Oct 2006: -- Federal Transport Minister Mark Vaile avoided promising federal funding for public transport but highlighted how the bus industry needs to make the most of the inquiries into congestion and disabled access... Vaile said the bus industry had a big role to play especially with congestion issues and fuel prices... He pointed out the states had $67.5 billion in GST money "to fund public transport and all their other responsibilities"... And remark out that the inquiry into urban congestion and ability access gave the bus industry an opportunity to ‘put its case’, as COAG reviews of the causes and trends of urban congestion...
