Newport News,VA,USA -Daily Press -August 16, 2006: -- School officials expect to save about $400,000 over five years by increasing the number of children on buses and condensing bus routes. No Isle of Wight County bus drivers will be laid off, but they will drive fewer routes, administrators said... Starting in September, elementary children will sit three to a seat instead of two. That will allow most buses to transport 60 or so students instead of just 45, school officials said. The buses can hold as many as 65 students, the officials said...
