Traffic - Australia - Clear run for buses, trams run out of town
Sydney,New South Wales,Australia -Sydney Morning Herald, by Sherrill Nixon -May 20, 2006: -- Less than three months after scrapping plans for six new bus lanes in the city centre, the State Government is again reviewing ways to give buses a smoother run to reduce congestion... The Transport Minister, John Watkins, said improving bus journeys through the city was a higher priority, and revealed the Roads and Traffic Authority and the City of Sydney Council were in talks about bus priority measures... His commitment to new measures - such as extended hours for bus lanes or bus priority at lights - comes after the much-criticised abandonment of six planned bus lanes. They were dumped after road changes were made to pacify public outrage over the Cross City Tunnel...
