Asheville,NC,USA -Asheville Citizen-Times, by Dale Neal -Apr 12, 2006: -- The air promises to be a little lighter around Asheville and Buncombe County in years to come - 26.1 tons lighter, to be exact... That’s the amount of emissions and particles belched out by diesel engines for 16 buses for the Asheville Transit Authority as well as two large tractors at the Buncombe County landfill, which will be retrofitted for free by Caterpillar Inc... The technology donations came Wednesday during a Clean Diesel, Clean Air forum at the Asheville Renaissance Hotel, sponsored by the Diesel Technology Forum, an industry group promoting the new federal standards that go into effect next year for much cleaner diesel engines...
