Disabled buses - India - Stops on the way
New Delhi, India -The Delhi News on Line, by Aiman Mustafa -11 Apr 2006: -- AS Part of the government’s plan to make the entire Capital accessible for the disabled, before the 2010 Commonwealth Games, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has decided to make 70 bus stops on the entire stretch of route 620 disabled friendly... For the purpose, it has sanctioned a grant of over Rs 1 crore to the Delhi Transport Corporation... As per the plan, the bus stops will be overhauled and special buses introduced. The base level of the bus stops will now be reconstructed to match with the ground clearance — minimum height above ground level — of the bus, i.e. 380 mm...
