Security - Canada - Transit cops to carry weapons
Edmonton,Canada -The Edmonton Sun, by FRANK LANDRY -Mar 8, 2006: -- City transit cops could for the first time be armed with pepper spray and batons in a matter of weeks... "I'm told it should be very, very shortly," said Edmonton Police Service Insp. Mike Derbyshire, who's been seconded to train transit cops... The province has approved a city proposal to name transit cops - as well as park rangers - special constables, which allows them to carry the weapons. The solicitor general must next approve individual appointments, Derbyshire said...
