Story - USA - Day in life of bus rider
Getting around Hampton Roads on the bus is a foreign experience to most. Here's a look at what the journey is like
Hampton Roads, Virginia -Daily Press, by TONY GABRIELE -Jan 23, 2006: It's a weekday morning in January, and I'm riding the bus. And you're not.... Well, probably you're not. Thousands of Peninsula residents do take Hampton Roads Transit buses every day to get where they're going... So what have I learned? It'll probably be hard to get many people to forsake their cars for bus commuting, because of the extra time it takes and the routes that don't go everywhere... HRT spokesmen have said they'd like to extend the system but don't have the money... But if you're near a bus stop - and energetic folks note, many HRT buses now have bicycle racks - the bus is a fairly comfortable, economical (and gas-saving) way to get around the Peninsula. And when you car lets you down, you may not be stranded...
