Taken Out - USA - Justice Department reach settlement over city buses
Detroit,Mich,USA -6 News WLNS(WASHINGTON,DC) -4 Nov 2005: -- Detroit buses not equipped to handle disabled passengers will be taken out of circulation under a settlement the city has reached with the federal government... The deal calls on the city to continue retiring buses without lifts, repair and maintain lifts and buy new buses... Drivers and mechanics also would be trained in deploying the lifts and helping disabled passengers... Five residents sued Detroit's Transportation Department last year. They said many buses lacked functioning lifts. The Justice Department intervened in March...
