Purchases - USA - Borough To Receive More Local And Express Buses
Rego Park,NY,USA -Queens Chronicle by Sametta Thompson -Sept 29, 2005: -- The Metropolitan Transportation Authority will purchase 529 new local and express buses for Queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx, according to Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Governor George Pataki... The 400,000 riders who depend on the MTA Bus Company’s service has scored a big victory, Bloomberg said in a statement... The city has a "letter of intent" with the owners of the remaining four private companies and expects to transition service by the end of November, said... The $250 million funding for the new buses comes from the MTA Finance Committee. The delivery of the new buses is scheduled to begin next spring...
