Examining - China - DaimlerChrysler supplies fuel-cell powered buses to Beijing
Ontario, Canada -Brampton Guardian, by ROBINSON/BEINTEMA -Aug 19th, 2005: -- Last month, three fuel-cell-powered Mercedes-Benz Citaro urban buses were handed over to a delegation from China at the DaimlerChrysler AG bus and coach plant in Mannheim... The initial aim of this fuel cell project, which will run until October 2007, is to examine the day-to-day practicality of fuel cell technology on the roads of China and gauge the acceptance level for the new technology by the inhabitants of Beijing. Other objectives are to gain experience with fuel-cell drive technology and in producing and handling hydrogen in the transport sector... These buses have already covered a total of more than 800,000 km and carried more than three mil-lion passengers. Three further fuel-cell Citaro buses have also been in regular service in Perth, Australia, since the end of 2004...
