Bus plan shunts light rail option
New South Wales,Australia -Sydney Morning Herald (subscription), by Tim Dick -23, 2005: -- Fixing the gridlock in Sydney's CBD with more bus lanes was like "moving the deck chairs around on the Titanic" according to the light rail company, while business groups expressed cautious concern at the announcement... The Premier, Bob Carr, claimed more bus lanes, traffic enforcement cameras and selling tickets at bus stops could "shave five minutes" from travel times along George Street, while establishing a car-free zone could help cut 13 minutes off the same trip...
