EXPRESS BUSES * USA - It's time for city to speed up process for
Greenwood,IND,USA -The Indystar, by Ericka Barker -October 31, 2008: -- I've been wondering for months now about the proposed express service between Greenwood and Downtown Indianapolis... Now here it is October, and we're still in the "wouldn't it be nice" stage... At $2 each way, IndyGo Express to Downtown would not only save money on gas and parking, not only make the streets less congested and the air less polluted, but it would make life easier for those of us (like me) who never quite got the hang of the whole "one-way streets" thing... Oh, sure, go ahead and laugh . . . like you've never had cars honking at you as you proceeded the wrong way down Illinois Street... The point is (at the risk of sounding like a curmudgeon): Let's get going on this! Fishers started its express service to Indy a year ago, and it's been a huge success.. Indianapolis,IND,USA -The Indianapolis Star, by Tania E. Lopez -March 12, 2008: -- With gas expected to reach record high prices this summer, many commuters view this week's announcement of express bus routes from Carmel to Downtown Indianapolis as a sign of relief... Tom Porter lives and works in Carmel but said he plans to use IndyGo to visit downtown... IndyGo announced it would begin operating express bus routes from Carmel to six Downtown Indianapolis locations on Monday... (PHOTO: Passengers boarded IndyGo's Fishers Commuter Express in January at Eastern Star Church. A similar service begins Monday for Carmel residents, leaving the Meijer parking lot every 15 minutes beginning at 6:15 a.m.)Labels: express buses

It was an instant reminder of the demon drivers and traffic headaches that had been, up to that point, gloriously missing from my day... That morning I had left my car at a park-and-ride lot on Hewatt Road and boarded an express bus for downtown Atlanta. In the afternoon, I walked to a pickup point downtown and rode another bus back to Snellville... The service was part of the new express bus routes that GRTA (Georgia Regional Transportation Authority) started Monday... I have to say - I loved it. The bus made good time. I didn’t have to worry about traffic. I talked to other riders. I read. Some commuters listened to music...Labels: express buses
