* New South Wales / Australia - More than 30 new buses for South West Sydney under new bus operators

IndusAge -6 June 2014: -- Minister for Transport, Gladys Berejiklian, today announced bus customers in South West Sydney will benefit from 33 new buses and 360 extra services per week as part of a raft of improvements being delivered by two new bus operators... Bus operators Interline and Busabout started running services in South West Sydney this week following a competitive tender of metropolitan bus contracts last year... Interline will provide services for the Liverpool, Glenfield, Ingleburn, Bringelly and Hoxton Park region. Busabout is the new operator for customers around Campbelltown, Narellan and Camden...

Jinan,Shandong,China -EMBARQ, by Ying Wang -June 04, 2014: -- In the past five years, China has become the world’s fastest growing market for bus rapid transit (BRT). Today there are 17 BRT systems in China that serve 2.3 million people – the majority of these were built after 2008. Furthermore, China aims to build a total of 5,000 km of BRT by 2020, a fivefold increase form today. This BRT expansion will help Chinese cities – already home to the world’s largest urban population – provide safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly mobility to the country’s expected 350 million new urban residents by 2030... The city of Jinan, home to 2.8 million people, has one of the China’s largest BRT systems, boasting four corridors serving 220,000 passengers each day. Still, this is less than 6% of the city’s population... 


* Malaysia - Rapid Bus receives three recovery trucks from MAN 

Kuala Lampur,Malaysia -My Rapid -5 June 2014: -- Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd, which is the bus operating arm of Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasarana), has added three recovery truck amongst its fleet of vehicles for operations in providing world class public transport services in the country... With the addition of the recovery trucks from MAN Truck and Bus Malaysia (MTBM), Rapid Bus, which operates RapidKL, RapidPenang and RapidKuantan bus services, will be totally independent in cases of recovering its stranded buses and enhancing efficiency in operations... Regarded as the largest and the most advanced heavy vehicles tow-truck in Malaysia, the TGS 33.400 BB-WW 6X4 machines are able to pull up to 90 tons. They are the first ever MAN trucks purchased by Prasarana, which had previously purchased 150 MAN buses for RapidKL...


* Phillippines - Palace offers 24-hour express lane for trucks

Manila,Phillippines -Solar News -6 June 2014: -- Malacañan has come up with a solution to alleviate the plight of truckers affected by a daytime truck ban in the City of Manila... Presidential Communications Secretary, Herminio "Sonny" Coloma Jr., announced on Thursday ( June 5) that there will be a 24-hour express lane for trucks along Roxas Boulevard, effectively dodging the truck ban... The scheme will give trucks a way to and from the Manila North and South Harbors – through Pasay and Parañaque...
