There are more than 120 Greyhound lines but there are only two types of Greyhound bus: the real one and the mythic one... The Greyhound service, which celebrates its centenary today, has never been able to muster the glamour of the jet aeroplane or the ocean liner. But it did once symbolize a sort of go-getter entrepreneurialism, and played a vital role in connecting up an immense, politically and socially fragmented nation...
