* Brazil - Daimler Receives Order For 2600 Brazilian Government School Buses

Brasilia,CF,Brazil -Automotive World (UK) -30 Nov 2012: -- Mercedes-Benz do Brasil is to provide a total of 2600 OF 1519 R chassis model for the Brazilian Ministry of Education. The chassis will be assembled as school buses together with the Brazilian body builder Caio... The buses offer fundamental safety and comfort characteristics for the transportation of pupils on a daily basis and they are intended for use mainly in rural regions of Brazil... Equipped with modern BlueTec 5 technology, economical and environmentally friendly engines, the vehicles comply with the PROCONVE P-7 emissions standard (which is comparable with Euro V)... With these 2600 buses Mercedes-Benz has already sold over 4700 commercial vehicles to state bodies in Brazil since August 2012: over 1700 Atego model all-wheel drive trucks for the Ministry of Defence and 400 Sprinter vehicles for the mobile resuce service of the Health Ministry in Brazil...


* UK - SMMT: Bus And Coach Sector On Track For A Positive 2012 Despite November Fall

London,EN,UK -Automotive World -6 Dec 2012: -- The overall bus and coach market fell 28.7% to 450 units in November, but rose 36.6% during the January to November period... The purpose-built bus and coach market dipped for the second successive month, down 30.2%, but rose 11.7% during the first 11 months of 2012... Converted bus registrations fell 27.3% in November, but increased by 69.5% over the year-to-date...


* Hungary - Budapest Receives Biggest Fleet To Date Of New Mercedes-Benz Citaro Urban Bus

Budapest,Hungary -Automotive World (UK) -28 Nov 2012: -- Beginning on May 1, 2013, 159 new-generation Mercedes-Benz Citaro urban buses will be providing comfortable, environmentally compatible passenger transport in the Hungarian capital of Budapest. Daimler Buses landed the major order in early November 2012, and will begin delivering the first urban buses to Budapest in April 2013. The contract is the biggest order to date for the new generation of Mercedes-Benz urban buses. The vehicles were ordered by Hungary’s largest private bus company, VT Transman, which operates both regional and municipal bus lines... All of the 159 Mercedes-Benz Citaro urban buses comply with the EEV emission standard and will be produced at the two EvoBus plants in Mannheim and Neu-Ulm...


* Sweden - Scania to build buses in Bangalore 


Sodertalje,Sweden -Busworld (Belgium) -3 Dec 2012: -- At the beginning of this year, Scania announced that it planned to invest around €24 million in a Regional Product Centre on an industrial area near Bangalore with a target to sell around 1,000 buses, 2,000 trucks and 1,500 engines per year in the Indian market within the next five years... Production is scheduled to start in early 2013. The head office of Scania’s Indian company, a service workshop and central parts warehouse are being built on the same site. We understand that Scania plans to build both city buses and long distance intercity coaches...


* Hyundai Penetrates Mexico Market

For both its CNG trucks and buses in Mexico, it has opted for lean-burn SCR technology for better performance at higher altitudes) 
Mexico,DF,MEX -Fleets and Fuels -November 28, 2012: -- Korea’s Hyundai mounted a large display at the entrance to NGV Global 2012 in Mexico City earlier this month, showing a low-entry Super Aero City transit bus with 11.1-liter C6AE engine and an HD120 urban delivery vehicle with 6-liter C6GA engine, both fueled solely by compressed natural gas... Hyundai uses a lean-burn system with SCR (selective catalytic reduction) to minimize emissions, explaining that it has opted not to use a stoichiometric design for the spark-ignition CNG engines because of Mexico’s high altitudes... The vehicles have Type I steel CNG fuel cylinders... The Mexico City transit agency RTP operates 30 of Hyundai’s Super Aero City transit buses on CNG... 


* India - The Automobile Corporation of Goa

ACGL has also benefitted from European technology through Tata Hispano, meeting European construction regulations...  The Globus range of low floor and semi-low floor buses has proved particularly popular, because the new models are much more accessible than traditional Indian buses with their high floors...


* India - Corona offers monocoque products 

Pune,India -Busworld (Belgium) -3 Dec 2012: -- Corona Bus Manufacturing is based in the automotive city of Pune, inland from Mumbai... After several years of intensive research and development, plus field trials, Corona has developed integral structures which meet India’s requirements... The Skypak city bus is a semi low floor integral vehicle built to an overall length of 12 metres and powered by a rear mounted Cummins ISBe 6.7 litre BS IV engine... Corona also builds coaches. The Majestik Sleeper/Snoozer is a 32-berth sleeper coach which offers superior head clearance, space and privacy around each berth. A dished bed prevents passengers from rolling. Optional equipment can be offered, including TV entertainment for each berth. Under the floor, there is 8 cubic metres of luggage capacity. Mechanically the specification includes a rear mounted Cummins engine, hydrodynamic retarder and the option of ABS... Another model in the range is the XL Intercity bus. Unusually, the main entrance on this is behind the front axle, ensuring easier access for passengers to all seats...


* India - Tata Motors November Sales At 66,500 Nos.

 New Delhi,India -Automotive World (UK) -3 Dec 2012: -- Tata Motors’ total sales (including exports) of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles in November 2012 were 66,500 vehicles. The company’s domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for November 2012 were 62,354 nos., over 72,474 nos., sold in November last year... Cumulative sales (including exports) for the company for the fiscal were 548,168 nos., over 544,492 nos., sold last year...


* India - Eicher Records 9.8% Growth In Nov 2012

Saket,New Delhi,India -Automotive World (UK) -3 Dec 2012: -- Eicher branded trucks and buses have recorded sales of 3565 units in Nov 2012 which is 9.8% higher than Nov 2011 sales of 3248 units. The YTD 2012 sales of Eicher branded trucks and buses stand at 44230 units as compared to LYTD 2011 sales of 43286 units, representing a growth of 2.2%...


* China - Allison Transmission for King Long’s next UK mini coach

Following its UK launch at Euro Bus Expo 2012, Allison Transmission was chosen for the 8m vehicle, due to its broad range of gearboxes offering a unit that "fits perfectly alongside the XMQ6800's Cummins ISBe5 207bhp engine, and because of its reputation as a brand offering reliability, durability and performance" says the manufacturer...


* UK - Anglian Bus takes first MAN Ecocity gas buses

Beccles,EA,Uk -Transport Engineer -11 Dec 2012: -- Anglian Bus in Beccles has taken delivery of the first six of 13 new MAN EcoCity biogas-powered buses following a feasibility study that demonstrated financial payback in two and a half years, with help from the Green Bus fund...    The East Anglian PCT operator has gone for the low-entry version of the MAN EcoCity and maximised seating at 43...
