Tangerang,Banten,Inonesia -The Jakarta Post, by Multa Fidrus -February 9, 2011: -- Tangerang’s dream of initiating the operation of a new mass transportation system called “Buslane” early this month failed to materialize because the buses promised are not yet there... Fatchulhadi, head of the local public works agency, said Saturday the delay was due to the absence of buses promised by the Transportation Ministry’s directorate general for land transportation... He said the directorate had promised 25 buses to serve the route, which will pass by Tangerang’s Metropolis Town Square, Tangcity on Jl. Sudirman, and Serpong Town Square on Jl. MH. Thamrin, among others... He added that as many as 13 buses were expected to soon start serving the 13-kilometer route from Poris to Kalideres each day, while the remaining 12 buses would stand by...
* Indonesia - Eight Units of PPD Bus Detained for Violating Route-Transfer Policy
Jakarta,Indonesia -BERITAJAKARTA -7 Feb 2011: -- The bus-route transfer policy following the operation of Transjakarta corridor IX (Pinangranti-Pluit) has not fully complied by the bus operators affected by the policy, one of which is Djakarta Transportation Company (PPD). Some eight units of PPD 46 plying the route of Grogol-Cililitan were detained Monday (2/7) by Jakarta Transportation Agency after found still roaming in its old route... Most of the detained buses were carrying dozens of passengers, but the officers kept running the law enforcement operation, considering the tolerance period for the buses intersecting with the corridor IX already ended Sunday (2/6)... Head of Supervision and Control Section of East Jakarta Transportation Agency, Anggiat Banjar Nahor said, prior to the raid, the officers had carried out socialization to bus operators affected by the policy i.e. PPD and Mayasari Bhakti...
* India - No service, but bus routes increased
Ludhiāna,Punyab,India -The Times of India, by Nidhi Singhi -Feb 19, 2011: -- After four years of it being announced, the municipal corporation's city bus service project finally saw a route survey being conducted, with the number of circuits being increased from 22 to 35. However, with authorities reportedly not having enough buses, adding more routes is likely to cause more inconvenience, than convenience, to commuters... The 22 routes earlier were finalized by the civic authority without any survey... Even as the endless wait for a city bus service hasn't come to an end, the municipal corporation is stressing on increasing the routes. Earlier, the authorities had increased the routes from 16 to 22, and now these have been upped to 35.
