Dublin,GA,USA -The Courier Herald, by TERRY WOLF -5 Jan 2009: -- New state laws that are now in effect will bring changes from school bus routes to insurance rates... Among the new Georgia laws that took effect on January 1, 2009, is one that will address school bus safety at railroad crossings. This new law requires school boards to notify the Georgia Department of Transportation of routes school buses take that cross railroad tracks without active warning devices. The objective of the law is to minimize the potential for tragedy. The new law encourages school districts to reroute buses to avoid the crossings... Another new law that affects Georgia’s roadways involves cameras used for traffic-signal enforcement. The law mandates that the cameras must be allowed by the state. The law also sets provisions for enforcement of penalties from cameras...
