Valletta,Malta -dive, by Paul Cachia - 5 December 2008: -- Around 30 bus drivers attending a half-day presentation on the proposed public transport reform disrupted the proceedings when they started booing... The presentation on the new proposed public transport network held at Cinema 16 at Eden Cinemas in St George’s was interrupted by drivers booing, hurling abuse and making mocking sounds. Several new bus services are being proposed to improve transport links between the Maltese villages without the need to pass through Valletta... The drivers complained that the new network was based on the wrong data, taking into account the Maltese population not the bus patronage. They feel the routes were designed for the London metro and would not make sense in the local scenario. One said that the intention of the reform was to destroy their livelihood...
