Hybrid bus * UK - Fleet quadrupled
London,UK -MayorWatch -December 2, 2008: -- Transport for London is to quadruple the capital’s fleet of hybrid buses to 56 by January 2009, a further 300 buses are promised by 2011... Twenty-five new hybrids will go into service this month on routes 16, 141, 276, 328 and E8; a further 18 hybrid buses will join the fleet by the end of January... The buses use a combination of a conventional engine and an electric motor to use less fuel and emit fewer pollutants and reduce CO2 emissions by up to 40 per cent, according to TfL figures...
