BUSES' PURCHASE * Dubai - Emirates Transport t snaps up 250 school buses
Khaleej,Dubai/UAE -The Khaleej Times -24 April 2008: -- Emirates Transport has signed an agreement to purchase 250 school buses of 60 passengers capacity each for the year 2008/2009 at a total cost of around Dh100 million... Emirates Transport will receive the buses in June and July... Mohammed Abdullah Al Jurmen, Director General of Emirates Transport, signed the agreement, which also includes purchase of 50 buses equipped for transporting people with special needs... Al Jurmen said Emirates Transport was keen to upgrade the bus fleet according to the highest standards of safety and comfort...
* South Africa - Tshwane buys 100 buses for World Cup
Soweto,South Africa -Sowetan -30 April 2008: -- A total of 100 new buses have been purchased by the City of Tshwane as part of the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) system... The system will cost R1,9billion... Like other major cities, Tshwane is introducing the BRT to address the public transport challenges ahead of the 2010 Fifa World Cup...
