Whatever Happened * UK - To Queuing for the Bus?
London Mayor Asks: "Does anyone know when people stopped queuing for buses?''
London,UK -Bloomberg, by Brian Lysaght -Jan. 29, 2008: -- London Mayor Ken Livingstone kicked off a campaign to encourage civility on the city's 8,000 buses, saying he'd like to bring back the British tradition of forming orderly lines at bus stops... "Nowadays, people just turn up and it's all spread out'... Livingstone introduced a three-minute film by Mike Figgis, the Oscar-nominated director, which will be screened in movie theaters starting Feb. 1. The film chronicles four episodes of discourteous behavior on a double-decker bus and urges passengers to "show a little thought'' for fellow riders... A YouGov Plc poll this month showed that transportation and crime are the top two issues among voters. Livingstone said the campaign aims to encourage people to act appropriately rather than to intervene in potentially dangerous situations. He conceded that society is "getting rowdier"...
