* India - APSRTC to buy 2,200 more buses
Hyderabad,India -The Siasat Daily -16 February 2008: -- The AP State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will purchase 2,200 new buses to replace the old ones at a cost of Rs 330 crore during 2008-09... The Corporation also expects a profit of around Rs 120 crore in the next financial year. This will be in addition to the 2,000 vehicles already procured during the current financial year... The decision to add more buses to its existing fleet was taken at the extended Board of Directors’ meeting held here on Friday to finalise the Corporation’s budget proposals for 2008-09...
* USA - MTA looks to purchase 30 hybrid buses
Baltimore,MAR,USA -The Examiner -Feb 15, 2008: -- The Maryland Transit Administration is looking to replace some of its aging buses with 30 fuel saving diesel hybrid buses... The purchase would bring the MTA's fleet of hybrid buses to 40. Ten were purchased in 2005. The vehicles run on a combination of diesel fuel and an electric battery and are made by a company in Canada...
