* Europe - Commission aims for cleaner buses
The European Commission has revealed new proposals to dramatically cut harmful emissions from trucks and buses, in a bit to improve air quality in the region

The new ‘Euro VI’ standard aims to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) output by 80% and particulates (PM) by 60% compared to the limits of Euro V... “More stringent emission limits will pave the way for cleaner trucks and buses,” said Commission Vice President Gunter Verheugen. “This is good for the health of our citizens and the environment. Industry gets a clear perspective and the time to prepare to produce clean, high quality vehicles without endangering its competitiveness”... The targets will be debated by the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers, with a possible introduction in 2013...
