Williamsburg,VA,USA -The Daily Press (Newport News,VA), by SETH FREEDLAND -November 26, 2007: -- Riding the brand-new Surry-Williamsburg bus service won't cost you a cent in December, thanks to Williamsburg Area Transport officials, who are hoping to jump-start their latest addition... Through next month, no fare will be charged to Surry Connection bus travelers. Transfers to buses on other WAT routes will remain 25 cents... Since WAT opened the Surry route Oct. 10, ridership has been slow, with some buses carrying no passengers. Officials recently said they would work to advertise more and add flexibility to the routes. The connection to Surry was added with the knowledge that residents in the rural county — who have never before had public transportation available to them — shop and work in the Williamsburg area...
