SAFETY * UK - Security officers to stay on the buses
Security officers will continue to patrol bus services and stations in Greater Manchester for at least another year following the success of a new safety initiative
Manchester,UK -GMPTE -7 September 2007: -- ... Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority and the Greater Manchester Bus Operators Association (GMBOA) have agreed to invest nearly £150,000 in the Patrol and Response Unit over the next twelve months... Uniformed officers work closely with the police to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour on the bus network, and responded to more than 260 incidents in their first nine months on patrol... Councillor Andrew Fender, Chair of the Passenger Transport Authority's Policy Committee, said: "The Patrol and Response officers have helped to reassure passengers that they can travel safely on the local bus network..."
