Park & Ride *- UK - Passengers Soar Past Million Mark
The soaring popularity of the region’s first purpose-built Park & Ride service has led to long range plans for a possible extension to the scheme
Durham,UK -Durham.gov.uk -September 5, 2007: -- Latest figures show the £10m service, launched by Durham County Council in Durham City in December 2005, has carried a total of 1.2 million passengers... And its increasing popularity shows no sign of stopping, with an average monthly increase in passenger levels of 33 per cent compared with last year... While there are no immediate plans to extend the Park and Ride scheme, additional Park and Ride sites are being considered in the Shincliffe and Stonebridge areas - along with a possible extension of the existing ones - as part of a range of options being assessed to improve traffic management in and around the City...
