* USA - HRT approves $20 million for fleet of hybrid buses
Norfolk,VA,USA -The Virginian-Pilot, by TOM HOLDEN -July 27, 2007: -- A new fleet of hybrid buses will replace the region's aging collection of trolleys under a deal concluded Thursday by Hampton Roads Transit... The agency agreed to spend $20.2 million on as many as 40 new buses as part of a plan to reshape the region's various trolley services into a universal shuttle system... The deal means Norfolk's blue NET buses and Virginia Beach's red trolley service will be replaced beginning next year with new vehicles powered by diesel-electric hybrid engines that promise better fuel efficiency and reliability...
