Students are more apt to listen to safety messages from stars such as Lavigne than from the bus driver

Galveston County,TX,USA -The Galveston Daily News, by Rhiannon Meyers -July 31, 2007: -- Behaving on the bus isn’t cool — unless rock princess Avril Lavigne says it is... Galveston school buses may have a new feature next year called Bus Radio, a free program that offers age-appropriate music, disc-jockey bantering and safety messages from teenagers’ idols such as Lavigne... “Remember to stay in your seats, stay in school and stay tuned to Bus Radio,” Lavigne says in a pre-recorded message... Students are more apt to listen to safety messages from stars such as Lavigne than from the bus driver, said Galveston school district’s assistant superintendent, Arnold Proctor... By improving bus safety, the district could decrease discipline problems and increase driver retention, he said...
