First Student plans for onboard alarms

Columbia,MO,USA -The Columbia Daily Tribune, by JANESE HEAVIN -June 17, 2007; -- Whoever planted a loaded gun on a First Student school bus in Columbia last month might want to think twice before trying it again... First Group, the company that owns the nationwide fleet, is equipping all of its 22,000 school buses with intruder-alarm systems... The systems, which will be ready for the coming school year, include monitors that detect movement or heat when a bus is not in use. When the monitors are triggered, the interior lights go on, an alarm sounds and intruders are alerted through a pre-recorded message that they’ve been detected...
