Study - New Zealand - Huge Response to North Wellington Transport

Wellington,N.Z. -Press Release -28 Aug 2006: -- Wellington City Council Deputy Mayor Alick Shaw says the submissions show that people are interested in the future of public transport and are prepared to take the time to make their views known. "This is an excellent result which builds on the 500 submissions received during the first stage of consultation.".. The analysis shows some interesting conclusions regarding differences between geographical areas... For some suburbs that are close to rail, such as Ngaio, Khandallah and Crofton Downs, there is strong support for rail... For suburbs which are currently served by bus, as Grenada Village, Churton Park, Newlands, Paparangi and Woodridge are, there is strong support for the busway... In areas where there is a choice of public transport, such as Johnsonville and Broadmeadows, there is majority support for the busway scenario...
